Driven by award winning song writing, and knocked out of the park by an ensemble of spellbinding musicians, Timothy Nelson & The Infidels are a solar system of melody. Their sound wraps itself around the audience in a whirlwind of timeless folk pop, as the influences of The Beatles and Bob Dylan float atop a raging current of raw, honest lyrics that cut straight to the bone. The songs will stay etched in your memory long after the first listen, and the people just keep coming back for more.

You may have heard Art vs science's brand new track MAGIC FOUNTAIN on triple j radio. Hopefully you'll be hearing it a little/lot more. It is a tasty little morsel.

As for the album... they say it is coming. The boys are said to be highly impractical people with no sense of time, thus they have been constantly recording and keep coming up with new ideas. It will come soonish, possibly early 2011.

In the meantime this means TOURING and this time we will be supported by friends in electro pop TIM AND JEAN.

They’ve birthed a grimy hardcore giant and hailed a more metal-centric destroyer, but in 2010, Cancer Bats are dropping their heaviest, deadliest, and most brutal offering to date with Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones. Its title derived from the nicknames of each of the four Bats – drummer Mike Peters, guitarist Scott Middleton, vocalist Liam Cormier, and bassist Jaye Schwarzer, respectively – this record represents the full emergence of the band’s purest and truest sound. With 2006’s Birthing The Giant and 2008’s Hail Destroyer, the Bats were writing as a trio and enlisting the help of a touring bassist for live dates, whereas here and now, the Cancer Bats machine is a strong, stable unit comprised of four steady pieces ready to bow the crowd away this Sunday at Amplifier.

Touring together this September are two of the most intelligent bands around today: Xiu Xiu and High Places.

There is a brutal intimacy to Xiu Xiu work, with songs that are both refined and intricate yet melodically vibrant, proving art can be pop and pop can challenge you to look inside yourself. Their songs are a sort of exposé of responsibility, fear, healing, and societal roles all wrapped in rich gothic pop sound.

High Places’ use range of aural layers: bells and bird calls over a wash of ocean waves; mallets hitting mixing bowls over treated guitar and glockenspiel; Mary's reflective vocals over Rob's homemade beats. The result is an imaginative and spacious amalgamation of sounds with a unique, almost Caribbean undertone that is as immediate as it is refreshing. High Places visits Australia on the back of their recently released album High Places vs Mankind.

Xiu Xiu and High Places together is undoubtedly one of the most exciting combinations you’ll see touring this year.
